Back in 1975, Leonard Nimoy did a reading of Bradbury’s short story for Caedmon Records. Fast forward to August 4, 2026, and someone posted it on YouTube. By accident, I ran across it the next day. It also seems likely to me that Bradbury had Hiroshima and Nagasaki in mind.
Nimoy’s performance was fairly neutral, which was a great way to treat the text as it let Bradbury’s language stand out. My instinct would have brought it closer to a poor William Shatner imitation… is one reason why I’m not in the performing arts business.
